“I opened the door to Mary Poppins… who should be there but Walt Disney!”

In ‘Saving Mr. Banks’, the feel good movie of the season, media mogul Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) convinces the author P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson) to let him adapt her book, Mary Poppins, to the big screen. Their collaboration ultimately results in much more than ‘just a spoonful of sugar’… 50 years later, Mary Poppins is one of the highest-grossing and most watched movies of all time. Living proof that great partnerships allow visionary leaders to make great things even better, and it pays off to know a good thing when you see it.

Our client is one of Canada’s leading privately-held real estate management companies, with a diversified portfolio of residential and commercial properties located across Canada. Established over 30 years ago, they have consistently identified high-potential investment opportunities and partnered with the right people and investors to bring their visions to reality.

They are currently seeking a high-potential Director of Finance to join their dynamic, entrepreneurial team of professionals. Reporting to the VP Operations and managing a small team, this individual will be responsible for all aspects of financial and management reporting for one of the company’s growing divisions, including ongoing operating budgets and forecasts, financial modeling, cashflow projections and financial return analysis, presentation of results to senior management and management of the year-end external audit process. The role is broad in scope and highly-visible, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior management across various parts of the business.

This ideal candidate will be a designated finance professional (CPA, CA) with 5 years’ progressive experience gained within a mid-to-large public accounting firm and/or industry. Strong technical and critical thinking skills, a high degree of proficiency in Excel, along with a fluent knowledge of ASPE and IFRS reporting requirements are essential. A proactive, energetic individual, able to manage multi-faceted responsibilities and build strong relationships within a highly dynamic and evolving environment will thrive in this role. It’s a brilliant career partnership.
