Our client is a successful part of the Canadian mining industry, owning a substantial share in one of the largest mines of its type in the world today. The mine is in full production and is located in Northern Canada with head office in downtown Toronto. They are also actively involved in on-going exploration of new opportunities.
Working closely with the Controller and Manager of Financial Reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst will learn the ins and outs of a complex business and company structure from the ground-up, gaining hands-on experience in everything from financial reporting to budget preparation to internal audit of joint venture accounts.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the completion of quarter-end closing and financial statement preparation, including MD&A
- Assisting in the operational audit of joint venture accounts
- Analysis of financial results, budget vs actual, etc.
- Assisting in budget preparation
- SOX compliance
- Ad hoc reports and projects
The successful candidate will bring experience working with IFRS in a public company setting, either through experience in industry or as an auditor. Strong organizational skills, high attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and accountability, a willingness to be hands-on, and excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential.
A CPA, CA designation is required. Exposure to the mining industry is not essential, but is considered an asset.
